The QS 2023 ranking of the world's Masters in Finance

For all students attracted to finance, international rankings are an important criterion to take into account. M&A, Private Equity, Transaction Services or even Market Finance, these fields rely heavily on rankings to ensure that they recruit the best people into their companies. As a result, many recruiters trust the QS rankings during their recruitment period.

Analysis of the QS 2023 Finance Rankings

The world's number one school is HEC Paris, which overtakes Oxford this year. The French school thus reiterates its global expertise and confirms its academic excellence. The second place in France is occupied by ESSEC, ranked again this year at the 7th place worldwide. ESCP closes the French podium and is ranked 14th worldwide. On the other hand, emlyon and EDHEC each lost one place. 

Let's now look at the rankings according to criteria. The United Kingdom dominates the "Employability" criterion, since the top three schools are English (Cambridge, Oxford and the London Business School). HEC manages to come in 4th place, before the British schools take over. 

In terms of "Return on Investment", France dominates. Indeed, with the "affordable" tuition fees of French schools compared to the high cost of English and American schools. 

Finally, the results are more mixed in terms of "Graduate Outcomes". HEC Paris is at the top of the table, followed by the UK and the US.

The QS ranking of the best Masters in Finance is based on the following criteria

  • Alumni outcomes (15%)
  • Diversity (10%)

   

Data is collected through three surveys: the QS Global Employer Survey, the QS Global Academic Survey, and a survey completed by the business schools themselves.
