1) What you need to know about BlackRock?

Founded in 1988, BlackRock is an American company chaired by Larry Fink. For many years, the group has been the world's largest asset manager, with nearly $7 trillion in assets.

Blackrock's core business is investment advisory, portfolio management and securities lending.

Le segment principal de Blackrock regroupe les activités de conseil en investissement, de gestion de portefeuilles et de prêts de titres. This segment represents approximately 80% of the company's revenue. The remaining 20% corresponds to risk management and performance measurement technology services.

BlackRock's objective is to prepare the financial future of its clients (a theme that is very relevant in the United Kingdom and the United States, where the retirement system is not as protective as in Europe).

Finally, BlackRock would not really be BlackRock without its essential ETF (Exchange-Traded Fund) offer.

3) What are the steps in the recruitment process?

The recruitment process typically involves the following steps:

First, candidates are typically required to complete an online application form that includes questions about their academic and professional background, as well as the divisions and subdivisions of the company for which they are applying

Secondly, the candidate will be called for an interview where he/she will have to answer several questions (usually 2). The candidate has 3 minutes to prepare, then 1 minute and 30 seconds to answer each question.

Examples of questions you might get at the interview:

  • Why BlackRock and the division you are applying for?
  • Tell us about a story you have learnt about recently, and how it is related to BlackRock.
  • Tell me about a time you worked with people from diverse backgrounds.

Thirdly, the candidate is invited to take the Assesment Center at BlackRock's offices. In general, this stage consists of group work, a presentation, and a case study (such as a market analysis for example). However, the format of the company's assessment center is not fixed and depends on the division chosen.
